| Nazareno Troiani was my grandfather and my hero. Born in Roccavivi, L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy in 1898, he was the youngest son born to Luigi and Carolina Troiani. The other sons were Rocco, Angelo and Domenico. In April 1912, having just turned 14, he and his brother, Domenico (about 8 years older), set out for America. They eventually settled in Berwick, PA. Domenico returned to Roccavivi after two years. Nazareno never saw his parents or brothers again. I was fortunate enough to meet my Uncle Domenico in April 1982, when he was 92, about 2 months before my grandfather died. In 1926, Nazareno married Anna Romanelli and they had 3 children...Louis (my father), Filomena (Phyllis) and Alphonsina (Lola). | Anna Romanelli Troiani was my grandmother. She was the daughter of Luigi and Filomena (Roncalli) Romanelli. She was born in Roccavivi, L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy and came to America at the age of three and resided the rest of her life in Berwick, PA. She was the middle daughter of girls. Maria (married Gaetano DiGirolamo)and Ermine (married CC Bream, Jr.) A brother, Paul, died as an infant.
