| Emil Stiess was the eldest of 10 children born to Louis Stiess (Ludwid Stutz) He was born in Germany as were four of his other siblings. After the death of his mother in Germany, Louis Stiess moved the family to Willoughby, Oh, where he subsequently married his second wife, Caroline Gundelach (Emil had five half-brother's and sisters who were all born in the U.S.) Emil was married c. 1904-1905, and in 1906 his wife gave birth to twin girls. Of all ten siblings, only Emil and Anna (the youngest) lived past 80. (Anna also died at age 81) Coincedently, their father Louis, who was born in 1856, died in Cleveland,Oh in 1937, also at the age of 81. Little information is known as to the Name, DOB, DOD, etc. of his mother who died in Germany Prior to 1890. His Step-Mother Caroline Gundelach died in Cleveland, Oh in 1921 at age 57. I am not certain, but believe that his daughters moved (retired) to Florida, where both of them lived until the 1980's. I do not know if he had other children or grandchildren, etc; though I do know that his last surviving Niece, the daughter of his half-brother Ed Stiess passed away in Ohio in 2011, several weeks before her 84th birthday. Of all of his siblings, his youngest Sister, Anna Catherine(Stiess) Fink, was the only one to have grandchildren (3), by her only child Carol Ann (Fink) Surniak (b.1932-d.2006) (as well as great-grandchildren (3), which were all born within five years of her death) Unless he had grandchildren by his daughthers or other children, his Niece Jeanne (Stiess) Williamson who passed in 2011 was the last surviving member of this (particular) Stiess Line... - submitted by

| P.S.: Judging by the names following in these obituaries, it would seem that Emil did have more children after 1906; most notably Emil L. Stiess who died in Fl in 2006. If anyone could supply even a slight bit of additional information, that a possiblity exists of there being any decendants of Emil (and his father Louis) Stiess still living...please add to this or e-mail me.
