Frank Stapleton, age 90, of Claypool, Arizona passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at Heritage Health Care Center in Globe.
He was born in Huntington, West Virginia on March 16, 1918, the son of Nancy (Thornhill) and Steve Stapleton.
As a young man, he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corp in Idaho during the Great Depression. During this time frame, he developed a passion for building rock walls which he would later use to build what is affectionately known as the ’ Rock House. He worked underground at Old Miami Copper from 1945 until they closed. In 1960, he went to work for Kennecott Copper and retired in 1981.
Frank was a 32nd Degree Mason and a lifelong member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. His love for sports led to competing in boxing and AAA softball teams. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Diamondbacks fan. Frank loved retirement, gardening and tinkering, but the most enjoyment he got out of life was spending time with his family.

Daughters: Frances Crossett and her husband Dave of Claypool, Arizona, Nancy Spellman of Columbus, Ohio, Marylin Bray of Claypool, Arizona, Jeanette Waddell of Evansville, Arizona. Thirty-one grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren also survive Mr. Frank Stapleton.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Eva Stapleton on November 21, 2006.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, Oct. 3,11 a.m., at Miles Funeral Services Globe Chapel.
