| Garys nickname while he was a lineman for the upper peninsula power company was soot. He was my uncle ,he had the ability to make you laugh when you were having a bad day. After a few beers one night he told me... I almost drowned when I was a kid, I got electrocuted by 69.000 volts and the next time will be strike three. Little did he know two years later him and aunt orvella got hit head on on us2&41 by Bonnie moersch who was driving home to see her terminally I'll mom Uncle Gary and Bonnie perished that night and aunt orvella was spared . Gramps owned and operated a Dairy Farm in Pine Ridge/Wells Twsp/Delta Co, MI.
He was also an elected School Board Member, as well as Wells Township Supervisor in Michigan's Delta County in the 1970's. A Republican.
I didn't learn one of my favorite stories about my grandfather until after his death in 1992. His daughter, my aunt Carol who shared this story with me, was listening to a radio program with friends at a neighbors home on the afternoon of April 12th, 1945.
A radio bulletin broke into the regularly scheduled juvenile adventure story that 63-year-old President Franklin Delano Roosevelt had died suddenly from a cerebral hemorrhage at the Little White House in Warm Springs, Georgia. The Pinozek family who were staunch supporters of FDR's policies were shocked and saddened at the news. They basically went into mourning after the report.
Upon returning home, Carol arrived to a completely different atmosphere. My grandfather was in a celebratory mood, even enjoying an adult beverage! While I don't believe my grandfather wished FDR ill will, he was thankful that the 12 LONG YEARS of Roosevelt's harmful policies were over. Less than two year later congress passed the Twenty-second Amendment would limit all future Presidents to two 4 year terms.
