Obituary of Fannette M. Ripper, published 12 Nov 1985 in the Peoria Journal Star:
PEKIN -- Mrs. Fannette M. Ripper, 66, of 1504 Charlotte died at 1 a.m. today at Pekin Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 11, 1919, in Peoria, she was a daughter of Benjamin and Maggie Hamilton Traeger. She married Stanley O. Ripper April 3, 1942, at Palmyra, Mo.
Suvivors include her husband; two sons, Lynn of Edwardsville, and John of East Peoria; one daughter, Susan at home; three grandchildren; and one half-sister, Mrs. Edith Haubensak of Pekin.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She worked part time at the Ripper Flower Shop from 1962 to 1975.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at her church, the Rev. Thomas Daly officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin, and one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Sand Prairie Cemetery, South Pekin. Obituary of Stanley O. Ripper, published 14 Jan 2004 in the Pekin Daily Times:
PEKIN -- Stanley O. Ripper, 84, of 601 Prince St., died at 6:55 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria. He was formerly of 1504 Charlotte St.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark A. Miller and the Rev. Glenn R.A. Niemann will officiate. Burial will be in Sand Prairie Cemetery in rural Green Valley.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, and 30 minutes prior to services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Civic Outreach, 515 S. Third St., Pekin, IL 61554; or to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 2675 Allentown Road, Pekin, IL 61554.
He was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Cincinnati Township in rural Tazewell County to Frederick George and Emma Eva Lutz Ripper. He married Fannette Margaret Traeger on April 3, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo. She died on Nov. 12, 1985, in Pekin.
He also was preceded in death by four brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Lynn H. (Marlene) Ripper of Edwardsville and John R. (Marianne) Ripper of Indian Trail, N.C.; one daughter, Susan M. Ripper of Pekin; three granddaughters; and two sisters, Vernita Organ of LaPorte, Ind., and Mary Thelma Wagner of Pekin.
He served stateside in the U.S. Army from Oct. 15, 1941, until being discharged as a master sergeant on Oct. 20, 1945.
Ripper worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria for 40 years, retiring as an inspector in the transmission department in January 1981.
He served as treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 181 for more than 40 years. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed softball, basketball and golf in his younger years.
