| John Petranovich was named Ivan in the birth records in Delnice, Croatia. He was one of three sons that immigrated to America. His parents were Martin Petranovic and Agnes Polic they lived in house #33, with Aunts, Uncles' and Cousin's. He immigrated to America as a single young man his father paid the passage to the new world. He married his first wife Mary Bolf in 1914 in Utah. While he worked in Utah they had a daughter in 1917 and a son John Jr. 1918. Sadly the baby died cause of s.i.d.s only a month after birth. They headed east for some unknown reason. In 1919 they had another son in Minnesota and 1921 another around 1924 they lost their first born daughter. They also had one last child around that time her name was Helen. Later the family settled in Chicago, Cook County,Illinois and stayed there to the end of their lives. - submitted by

| He was the oldest son of poor Croatian Immigrants, he was born in New Mexico, the family moved to Colorado in the spring of 1920 Joe left school early to work in the mines, so that he could help the family. They had a sheep farm eight miles from town with no running water. He moved to Utah when work became scares at the mines and meet his wife. Joe later returned to his hometown missing and wanting to help his mother who was left alone in a during town. Joe became Sheriff and later on had two more daughters.
