Harold H. Nygaard, 91, Brainerd, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at his home.
He was born Feb. 24, 1909, in Crookston to Fredrick and Sigrid (Hanson) Nygaard. He served in the Army during World War II as an anti-aircraft machine gunner in the European Theater. He married Mabel Anderson on July 11, 1948, in Little Falls. He worked for Northern Pacific Railroad as a stock clerk until his retirement in 1974. He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel; two sons, Fredrick and David Nygaard, both of Brainerd; a daughter, Carol Swift, Brainerd; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl "Ben" Nygaard, Brainerd.
A brother and two sisters died earlier.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home of Brainerd with Father Glenn Derby officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post No. 255 of Brainerd.
