MEMORIES OF MOM AND DAD Charles K. Nihipali Sr. and Eleanor Nihipali were wed on December 25, 1948, at the Hau'ula Congregational Church. Together, their legacy includes six children, 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Our mom met our dad at the age of 16. Immediately, she knew that she wanted to marry the "HAWAIIAN" boy that she met at a friends house, and she wanted to be wed on Christmas day. Her dreams had come true ad together they spent 56 years together, as happy as she was on the first day, if not more. Majority of their life was spent on the Waianae Coast, where dad worked at the dairies, and we were all raised and educated. Mom worked as a baker at the elementary school until her car accident, in 1978 disabled her. She became a house wife, and we thank god she was there to help raise the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. At age 73, she is still doing it. 1982 was a big year for dad and our brother Vincent. Together they formed V & C Drywall, which thus far has been a very successful business. Dad retired a few years ago due to various medical problems, but would always speak of his many adventures with the business. We all knew that he also missed the farm life too. Working was an everyday thing for dad. He had to be bed bound in order to miss a day of work. His work ethics continues in many of his children and grandchildren, and they speak of it many a times. Mom and dad enjoyed their many trips to Las Vegas. They were also able to travel a lot more places in their later years, and although dad would hesitate at times, mom would say "yes" in a heartbeat, if asked to go anywhere. May 4, 2004 was tje begining of a devastating year for our family. Our brother "Blue", Lawrence Sr. was returned home to our Heavenly Father. It has been a very difficult time for his family and it had taken quite a toll on dad. Dads' health had not gotten better since that day. He encountered many complications with his health, and as the holidays came upon us, the outlook on dads health was getting gloomier. Mom became dads private duty nurse and we commend her on the excellent care she gave our dad. The Lord took dad on Februatry 17, 2005. he no longer had to endure all the suffering, he was now pain free, and he was with Blue. At times we feel this is all a dream, but we wake up and realize, its for real. We are all healing with time, and our mom, is doing great. We know she misses her partner of crime, but feels the comfort knowing he is with Blue, and they have no more worries or discomforts. Since our losses, we have had many gatherings as a family, and have enjoyed each other even more so in a special way. We look forward to our Nihipali Ohana reunions, and feel they are so important at this time in our life. We meet new family members every year, and are even able to recongnize a lot more of them each time we go. We are proud to belong to this Ohana and we thank our mom and dad, along with our heavenly father for the six miracles he gave them.
