| Ms. McKinney was my English I teacher at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, CA. I was in my freshman year. The date she died actually is December 24, 1979. She was a passenger in a car driven by her boyfriend when it lost control on Highway 17 between Los Gatos and Scotts Valley. They were hit head-on. Ms. McKinney died instantly. I have never recovered after learning of this when we returned to class in early January, 1980. God Bless you Ms. McKinney. - submitted by

| Thanks for posting Joseph. I feel the same. I was also a freshmen at Mitty when she past. She was one of my favorite teachers. I miss her very much. | Thanks to both of you Joseph and Jennifer for posting. I was a sophomore at Mitty when she passed. I had spent about a month in Europe with her that summer on a little "Mitty Goes To Europe" trip. I saw my first firefly in Tivoli Gardens with that wonderful, kind, beautiful woman. I often think of her, and pray for her parents. What a sweet person she was. - submitted by

I was a Senior at Mitty HS in 1979 when Ms. McKinney was killed in the auto accident
I had her for one if not two English Classes. Everyday in my Senior year I used to pass by her room on my way to my first class (she had a "prep" period) and we would often chat for a minute or two. She was a beautiful young lady and a beautiful person. She had just prior to Xmas cut her hair and I remember that prior to doing that she told me she was thinking about it... and asked my opinion. I told her I don't get a vote but if I did it would be NO!
When she finally did cut it I gave her no end of grief about it.
The last conversation I had with her was right before the Xmas break - I was planning to go skiing over the holiday and she told me to be careful... driving in the mountains...
I found out from a classmate over the Xmas holiday that she'd been lost - I still have to fight back tears thinking about her 40 years later.
