Herman G. Kempf, 75, - Birth: March 18, 1898 Death: Nov. 22, 1973
died at 5:45 p.m. yesterday at Walters Hospital after an illness of one year.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold J. Knappe officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday until the service.
A retired cashier for First State Bank of Porter, Mr. Kempf was born in Chiocago Mar 18, 1898, the son of Herman and Johanna Behnke Kempf. He had lived here for 50 years and had served as Porter County treasurer in the 1930's. He also had formerly worked at First State Bank of Valparaiso. On Mar 22, 1919, he was married in Chicago to Bertha Lewry, who survives. Note: came to America in 1892

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Rev. James R. Stuck will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Carlisle Funeral Home and from noon until the service Monday at the church.
Miss Kempf was born Sept 18, 1895, in Chicago, the daughter of Herman R. and Johanna Behnke Kempf. She was a resident of Michigan City for over 60 years. She was retired from the Burnham Glove Factory.
Surviving are a sister, Ella M. Schlundt, Michigan City; and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers are deceased.
Miss Kempf was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Ella M. Schlundt, 93, Born: March 20, 1902 Death: Dec. 15, 1996 Michigan City, died at 7 p.m. at Michigan City Health Care Center.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Pastor Harold J. Knappe will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3-5 and 6-9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the service Thursday at the Carlisle Funeral Home, Michigan City.
Mrs. Schlundt was born March 20, 1902, in Chicago, the daughter of Herman R. & JOhanna Behnke Kempf. On Sept 18, 1920 in Porter County, she married Raymond H. Schlundt, who died March 6, 1993.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Laverne Schlundt; one son, Clarence Schlundt; one sister, Anna Kempf; and three brothers, Herman, Edward & Walter Kempf.
Mrs. Schlundt had lived most of her life in Porter County. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

The service will be a 1 p.m. tomorrow at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Albertin officiating. Friends may call at Carlisle Funeral Home today from 509 p.m. and at the church tomorrow from noon until the service, Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Kempf, Walter D. Kempf, Stephen Helms, William Gring, Max Zolman and Earl Helms.
Mr. Kempf was born May 19, 1908, in Chicago, to Herman and Johanna (Behnke) Kempf, and had lived in Michigan City most of his lifetime. He was a retired truck diriver for Northwestern Transit. On April 26, 1930, in Michigan City, he married Frances Bowers, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Daved L. Kempf, LaPorte, IN.; two daughters (Elizabeth Jane Acker, Rebecca Suzanne Arneson), Kathryn S. Arneson and Jan A. Kutch, both of Michigang City; 10 grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Kempf and Ella Schlundt, both of Michigan City. Two brothers, Herman and Edward, are deceased.
Mr. Kempf was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as deacon and trustee; and a member of Teamsters No. 288. - submitted by
