 | John Gillstrom: John Gillstrom was born in 1852 in Sunne, Värmland, Sweden, his father, Jöns, was 31 and his mother, Ingeborg, was 40. He immigrated to Minnesota, USA, and had eight children with his first wife Charlotta Werme and three with his 2nd wife Bertha Anderson. Bertha also brought three children (Nancy, Carl, Elmer) from her first marrage to the farm. He died in 1942 in Stillwater, Minnesota, USA, at the age of 90. Before John left Sweden, he and his two brothers (Magnus and Olaf) agreed to change their last name from Jonsson to Gyllstrom. The spelling change to Gillstrom came over the years as English speakers would pronouce it correctly if you used an "i".
