Gilford Eggleston

VERNON (Special) - Services for Gilford B. Eggleston, 79, of Vernon will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Central Christian Church with the Rev. Sterling Lentz officiating.
Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery under direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Eggleston died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
He was born Oct. 17, 1919, in Goree. He married Madelyn Taylor on Nov. 3, 1944, in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a retired professional pilot for the W.T. Waggoner Estate after 35 years of service. He graduated from Levelland High School and Kelly Air Force Base Flight Training School. He moved to Vernon from Fort Worth in 1952. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Central Christian Church of Vernon.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jon T. and Edward B., both of Vernon; a daughter, Evelyn Wilson of Stamford; a brother, Everett Eggleston of Costa Mesa, Calif.; four sisters, Lucille Cole, Gladys Bowman and Geraldine Hendricks, all of Levelland, and Pauline Quisenberry of Seymour; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
