| Doug was one of my closest pals in high school and I lived in the apartment above his house. We hunted and fished together, and I traveled out west to visit Doug when he was in college at the Univ. of Wyoming. Douglas Leroy Barker grew up in San Ramon, CA and attended San Ramon High in Danville. He was very popular in High School, with many friends, and was also a JV track star. He was active in the Boy Scouts and was an avid camper and sportsman.
Doug became a longtime resident of Leesburg, Florida, living with his longtime love, Teri Ann Jones, working locally in Lake County as an electrician. He was always mechanically inclined and had a love for working on cars.
As a teenager Doug was involved in making amateur films with his friends, having a Production Company, Saunders, Mac Farland, and Barker Films. He also worked for and contributed to Public Broadcasting, KVIE, in the bay area. He attended Butte College in Oroville and the Columbia School of Film in Los Angeles. Doug loved to travel and be with his many friends. He had a ready smile and was a bit of a jokester.
Doug tragically lost a battle to pancreatic cancer in 2003. He is buried near his loving parents, Charles and Ann Barker, in Stanislaus County, CA. He is sorely missed. - submitted by
