| John was my Paternal Grandfather. An educator, in West Tennessee and well known as the Basketball Coach to all the Children who "went to school to him." Education was of the utmost importance to "Pop" and all the kids had to "make their grades" to play ball. Pop also loved a good riddle and always had a new one for myself and my brother Roger to solve. He also loved Cardinals baseball and most all sports. I well remember him watching the Cards on TV, listening to another game on the radio while reading the newspaper or the bible and keeping up with all of them ! My Aunt Grace was one of my favorite people ever. She never married and was like a second Mother to myself and my Brother Roger. She was the oldest child and only daughter of John Thomas and Eula McGaughy DePoyster. She had two brothers Dewey Lee and Shadrach.
Raised in West Tennessee, she went to College in Nashville and got her degree in Library Science. Her longest professional position was Librarian at Whitehaven High School in Memphis, Tn. She loved travel and did so often including Europe, the Holy Land and others.
My Grandparents John Thomas and Eula DePoyster moved from W. Tennessee to live with her in Memphis when I was just a girl. I have lots of fun memories of visits including Holidays and summer rides on their pontoon boat where they lived on Coro Lake.
She loved her God and was very devoted to her family...I still miss her.
